When the TLG Immobilien GmbH mandated hcb hospitality competence berlin with the hotel-specific support for this project in 2007, the objective was, on the one hand, the accompaniment of the contract process between the TLG and the principal tenant, the Hospitality Alliance AG. On the other hand, the design/ architecture of the frontage had not been defined yet and hcb carried out an architectural competition for the façade design as required by the federal state of Berlin. A particular challenge consisted in the requirement of a in the construction and in its operation cost-efficient façade in concurrent compliance with the functional requirements as to fire, heat and noise protection. Ultimately, the office Nalbach + Nalbach won the bid for the tendering.
After hcb had compiled the entire planning team, in the further process of the project, we especially took over the continuous coordination of the tenants until the completion of the project. On March 1st, 2011 the office- and hotel complex “Die Welle Mitte” opened its doors with approx. 27,000 sqm total floor area. Hence, further 337 rooms in the Ramada and 288 rooms in the H2 (European premiere!) are available for Berlins overnight guests.
